Free playback in the browser
Musaica is a free online sheet music reader: upload a PDF, PNG or JPG and it recognises the notation and plays it back with real instrument samples — piano, guitar, violin, oud, tanbur, kanun, ney or duduk. Because playback happens live, you can change the tempo, loop a phrase or switch instruments while you listen.
Subscribers can switch on Smart Playback, which shapes dynamics, timing and phrasing more like a human player, and Band Mode, which spreads the score across melody, harmony, bass and drums with pop or oriental groove styles.
HD render: sheet music to MP3
When you need an actual audio file, an HD render plays the whole score through a full General MIDI SoundFont, masters it and gives you an MP3 to download. It takes a short while to render; you can keep using Musaica and get an email when it is ready. If a render fails, the credit is refunded.
Tips for a better-sounding result
- Start with a clean score. Audio can only be as accurate as the recognised notes — a sharp scan matters more than anything else.
- Set the tempo deliberately. If the score has no metronome mark, type a BPM that suits the piece before rendering.
- Pick the right instrument. A violin line sounds more convincing on violin than on piano.
How to convert sheet music to audio
- Upload the score. PDF, PNG or JPG on the box above.
- Press play. Listen in the browser for free; adjust tempo and instrument.
- Render an MP3 (optional). Choose the HD sound option and start a render; download the MP3 when it is ready.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert sheet music to audio for free?
Listening is free: Musaica plays PDF and image scores in your browser. Downloadable MP3 renders use credits (Basic includes 10 a month; packs start at $3.99).
Can I convert a PDF of sheet music to MP3?
Yes, with an HD render. Upload the PDF, then render it to MP3 using one credit.
Does it sound like a real performance?
Standard playback is accurate but mechanical. Smart Playback (Basic plan) adds expressive dynamics and timing for a more natural sound.
Can I hear just one part of an ensemble score?
Musaica plays every recognised staff together. For single-part practice, upload just that part, or loop the bars you need.
